Our History:
Sara McVey L.Ac.   began her acupuncture practice at Genesis Hospital Complimentary Medicine  in 2008.  The Complimentary Medicine Department closed in December 2015.  AcuMed Holistic Health was formed in order to continue to offer  complimentary medicine services  to the community.  Our integrative medicine approach builds on this concept.  Integrative holistic medicine is a healing  oriented  medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.

Dry Needling is a type of acupuncture

Many people seek out the latest techniques to manage their pain and health conditions.  Dry Needling also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of either solid filiform needles (also referred to as acupuncture needles) or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome.  Acupuncture treatments always use solid filiform needles which are more comfortable and less painful than hollow core hypodermic needles.   Acupuncturists routinely needle myofascial trigger points  or "ashi points" in addition to acupuncture points  when treating patients.
